My Review:
I really enjoyed the slow-burn romance and enemies to lovers
tension between Eliotte and Izaak. Their relationship takes time to develop,
and I liked watching all that resentment slowly turn into something more. The
dystopian element also added an interesting layer, especially with the
questions about love, free will, and whether an algorithm can really decide who
you're meant to be with.
The beginning was a little slow for me, and I wanted more from the world
building, but once the story picked up, I was definitely invested. The ending
also left me wanting to know what happens next!
The Perfect Match is a fun mix of romance, dystopian drama,
and rebellion. I liked how it asks whether love can really be decided by
science and numbers.
Eliotte has always believed she is meant to be with Ashton Meeka. But when the
Matrimonial Office says her perfect match is Ashton’s older brother, Izaak, she
is shocked. She does not love him, and she can barely stand him. Still, the
system says they are 98.8% compatible, and that seems to matter more than what
she wants.
I really liked Eliotte and Izaak together. Their relationship has strong
enemies-to-lovers tension, and it was fun watching them slowly open up to each
other. Izaak seems cold and arrogant at first, but there is more to him than
that. As Eliotte starts questioning the world she lives in, she also begins to
see a new side of him.
The dystopian setting made the story more interesting. A government system that
chooses who people marry is creepy, and I liked seeing Eliotte realize how much
control the system has over her life. The rebellion, scandals, rivalries, and
threat of revolution gave the story more depth beyond the romance.
The romance also had great tension. Forced proximity, fake marriage, forbidden
feelings, and a love triangle all kept the story exciting. I especially liked
the main question of the book: if a system tells you who your perfect match is,
are your feelings real, or are you just following what the system wants?
This was a strong start to the I’m Not Your Soulmate series. The Perfect Match
mixes romance and dystopian drama well, with characters I wanted to keep
reading about and a world that made me excited for the next book.
