Fury Bound by Sable Sorensen
Blurb:
CROWNED BY DESTINY. CONSUMED BY VENGEANCE.
Against all odds, Meryn Cooper has inherited the crown—and a deadly war. As the Kingdom of Nocturna splinters under the weight of generations of lies, it is up to Meryn, her bonded direwolf Anassa, and their allies to bring the country back from the brink.
But the commoners, the Bonded, and the nobles are distrustful of their new queen and Meryn is caught in a deadly game of politics. Meanwhile, Meryn’s beloved younger sister, Saela, is more at risk than ever.
Confusingly, the one person Meryn can trust is Stark Therion—the dark, dangerous Alpha she thought hated her as much as she loathed him. Yet, his loyalty is unshakeable. His presence is intoxicating. And with his guidance, Meryn can seize an unthinkable level of power.
With enemies closing in and shadows stirring in her dreams, Meryn stands to lose her kingdom—and her heart.
Blood will spill. Bonds will break. Fate will be tested.
Fury Bound by Sable Sorensen - My
Heart is BROKEN and I am ANGRY About It!
I don't even know how to start this review
without feeling like I'm betraying a series I genuinely love. Fury Bound was
supposed to be everything, I was DESPERATE for this book. I hyped it up, I
counted down, I had my expectations soaring through the roof, and honestly?
That might have been my first mistake. But here's the thing, even accounting
for sky-high expectations, this book just didn't deliver the way Dire Bound
did, and that HURTS.
Let me be clear, I finished it. I didn't
hate it. But finishing a book and loving a book are two very different things,
and right now I am grieving the version of Fury Bound I had built up in my
head!
The pacing? Agonizing at times. There were
stretches where the story just wandered, circling around and around without
really going anywhere, and I could FEEL my excitement slowly deflating with
every page. Some of the plot felt painfully forced, like it was being pushed in
a direction it didn't naturally want to go.
And don't even get me STARTED on the moment
I waited the entire book for, you know the one. The thing I refuse to name
because spoilers, RUSHED. Absolutely robbed of its moment. Revenge is supposed
to feel SATISFYING and instead I sat there staring at the page like, that's
it?! THAT'S IT?!
Then there's Stark and Meryn. Oh, Meryn.
GIRL. We talked about this in Dire Bound, the trust issues, the reading the
room, ALL of it, and here we are again! Their romance felt forced and hollow
when it could have been absolutely electric. Give me the slow burn! Give me the
enemies who genuinely can't stand each other before they fall apart! The
tension needed so much more time to breathe before we got anywhere near
romance.
I am frustrated because I KNOW what this
series is capable of. Dire Bound proved it. The world, the characters, the
storytelling, it's all there. Which is exactly why Fury Bound stings as much as
it does.
But am I done? Absolutely not. I will be
first in line for book three, probably against my better judgment, because this
series still has my whole heart even when it's making me furious. Sable
Sorensen, please. I am BEGGING. Give us the redemption arc this series
deserves. π€π₯
