Daughter of the Fae
by A.L. Garr
Daughter of the Fae has a great premise, a journalist who discovers
she’s half-fae and dives into a hidden world to find her missing father. The
story moves quickly and has plenty of action, witty banter, and an intriguing
mix of mystery and magic.
That said, the pacing sometimes feels uneven,
and a few transitions between scenes could be smoother. The worldbuilding is
interesting but reads more like a fantasy-tinted version of a real city than a
fully new realm. I liked Sosie as a main character, though her reactions and
relationships develop a bit too fast to feel natural.
Overall, it’s a fun, fast read with real
potential. The concept, side characters, and flashes of beautiful writing kept
me turning the pages, even if I wished for a little more depth and polish.
